Until the Victorian era, this was a small and isolated fishing village. This changed when the railway reached the region in the 1850's, turning Grange-over-Sands into a popular seaside destination for holiday makers. In 1894, between 1932 and 1993, a lido was located on the seafront of Grange-over-Sands.

We travel from our homes to our hotel in Grange-over-Sands where we are welcomed by lunch on arrival. We have time to explore this beautiful hotel before we settle down for our evening meal. We have 3 full day excursions which include a beautiful boat ride upon the Ullswater Steamer from Pooley Bridge to Glenridding with free time to explore the beautiful countryside. We also spend a day in Windermere which starts with a train journey from Haverthwaite to Lakeside and onto a picturesque Windermere cruise from Lakeside to Bowness with free time in Bowness. Our final train journey of the holiday is on board the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway. We travel from Ravenglass to Dalegarth and return. One of the oldest and longest narrow-gauge railways in England. The line is 7 miles long offering spectacular views over the estuaries and countryside.
