About the Trip

New for 2018. A full packed itinerary throughout the Yorkshire Dales. We get the chance to unwind in the gothic grandeur hotel that is the Mercure Bankfield in Bradford, just a peaceful short stroll from the banks of the River Aire. As part of this TV & Film Trails tour, we will visit filming locations for famous TV series and films such as; Where the Heart is, The Railway Children, Last Tango in Halifax and many more.

Itinerary

We depart from Lancashire, heading for the Pennines moors, through Marsden and Slaithwaite, setting for the recent TV series Where the Heart is, continuing to our hotel for lunch on arrival. You have time to relax and have a look around before your evening meal. On one of the full day excursions, we visit the famous Bronte Museum in the picturesque village of Haworth, West Yorkshire. We continue onto Oakworth station, shot to international fame in the 1970s by the children’s iconic film, The Railway Children. Our final visit of the day is Calderdale, the popular area of Halifax famed for the filming of Last Tango in Halifax.

On another exciting day in the name of TV and film, after breakfast we visit Skipton, the thriving market town known as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’. Some scenes from Calendar Girls the lm were shot here, you have free time to explore. We then take a scenic drive through ‘Emmerdale Country’ to Otley, ‘Hotton’ in the series, to the tiny village of Esholt, where the show was originally filmed, wander around the sleepy lanes known to many as Beckindale and then Emmerdale. Enjoy exploring the familiar sights of Yorkshire and whilst in Esholt, enjoy a drink at the original ‘Woolpack’ and later we continue to the hotel for dinner.

Another full day excursion takes us to the National Media Museum, boasting six floors of TV and film. Following the museum, we travel to Holmfirth, made famous by ‘The Last of the Summer Wine’. Here we enjoy a guided tour of the exhibition and enjoy a 45-minute commentated journey on the magic bus tour, through the valley and areas where the escapades took place.

On the final day, we depart the hotel after our hearty breakfast for our short journey back to Lancashire.
