South Shields

Itinerary

We leave Lancashire and head for South Shields with a meal stop on the way. We include a visit to the National Trust’s Seaton Delaval Hall, where we get a chance to look inside the buildings, have a walk around the woodlands and gardens, and get a cuppa in the café. We then spend the afternoon in Whitley Bay where you can visit the beach. If you have a love of food, the iconic Spanish City in Whitley Bay has been restored with many original features, allowing you to see the dome in all its glory from the inside. Spanish City houses steak and seafood restaurants, tea rooms and champagne bars to name a few. The Seaward-facing full height windows reveal incredible views of the coast and St Mary’s Island. You can also visit the lighthouse in Whitley Bay where you can climb the steps to the top or see the spectacular views on video at ground level. You will enjoy a free day at leisure exploring the traditional seaside town of South Shields, and adventure for any visitor with its warm sandy beaches and seaside attractions. After breakfast on the final day, we head for home, stopping for refreshments on the way.
